But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, CompanionGuestFriend, go up higher: then shalt thou have honorworshiprespect in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. For whosoever liftselevatesexalteth himself shall be abasedhumbledlowered; and he that submitshumblethlowers himself shall be exaltedelevatedhonored. Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a banquetfeastdinner or a supper, call not thy companionsassociatesfriends, nor thy brethrenrelativesbrothers, neither thy familykindredkinsmen, nor thy wealthyrichaffluent neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a rewardrecompencerepayment be made thee. But when thou makest a feast, call the destitutepoorneedy, the injureddisabledmaimed, the crippledlameweak, the visionlessblindsightless: And thou shalt be honoredrewardedblessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the returnresurrectionawakening of the just.
