But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, FriendCompanionGuest, go up higher: then shalt thou have respectworshiphonor in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. For whosoever elevatesexaltethlifts himself shall be abasedhumbledlowered; and he that humblethlowerssubmits himself shall be honoredexaltedelevated. Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinnerfeastbanquet or a supper, call not thy friendsassociatescompanions, nor thy relativesbrothersbrethren, neither thy familykinsmenkindred, nor thy affluentwealthyrich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompencerewardrepayment be made thee. But when thou makest a feast, call the poorneedydestitute, the maimedinjureddisabled, the lamecrippledweak, the visionlessblindsightless: And thou shalt be honoredblessedrewarded; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrectionreturnawakening of the just.
