But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, FriendGuestCompanion, go up higher: then shalt thou have honorrespectworship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. For whosoever exaltethelevateslifts himself shall be loweredabasedhumbled; and he that humblethsubmitslowers himself shall be elevatedhonoredexalted. Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinnerfeastbanquet or a supper, call not thy companionsfriendsassociates, nor thy relativesbrothersbrethren, neither thy familykinsmenkindred, nor thy wealthyrichaffluent neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a rewardrecompencerepayment be made thee. But when thou makest a feast, call the needypoordestitute, the disabledinjuredmaimed, the weaklamecrippled, the blindvisionlesssightless: And thou shalt be blessedrewardedhonored; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the returnawakeningresurrection of the just.
