The call to salvation sermon

This is a trustworthy saying:

For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? (Matthew 16:26)

The Scripture, Matthew 16:26, enlightens us on the value of salvation, comparing that salvation is by far more valuable than all the lots that the world has to offer to mankind. Moreover, the Scripture is self-explanatory enough. No man, as yet, has been able to amass for himself all the wealth of the world – everything; but even if it were possible to have the whole world, it is still not worth it to forfeit your salvation for the world.

The salvation of the soul is the most priceless thing. To what would you compare salvation? It is the best thing to ever happen in the life of man. All of the world – the wealth of its cities, the value of its facilities, the trillions of money that circulate in the financial market and those held in the vaults of banks, the rich deposits of minerals, fame, and luxury, etc. – all added together cannot make up for salvation. The salvation of your soul is not something you can compromise on. For salvation is everlasting just as the soul is eternal.

Moreover, humanity has been so blessed in that this valuable salvation is given at no cost; you do not pay anything to have salvation. How? Why? Because it has been paid for already by one man, Jesus Christ, and the price for salvation was certainly not cheap. Salvation was paid for in blood. The blood of a perfect, righteous man-God, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ, though had all the power to make Him invincible, had to just allow Himself to be killed – crucified on the cross – and His blood, spilled. It all happened because God has a purpose at heart to save mankind – to save him from sin, Satan, death (separation from God), hell, and eternal condemnation for sin. The salvation call is ongoing; God is still calling mankind to salvation. Through the Scriptures, His voice rings out –

2 … “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:2)

Salvation is a choice. You can make that choice now. In fact, you are a prayer away from your salvation; the Bible says, “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10). With regard to Romans 10:9-10, if you have heeded the salvation call and you are ready to receive salvation, then say this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I believe you came to die on the cross for my sins and resurrected on the third day. I repent of my sins and ask for your forgiveness. I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Amen

Having believed and said such a prayer, be sure of this – Jesus has given you salvation; meaning, you have eternal life, you have been born again and forgiven of all sins committed. It is a spiritual experience; it is the work of God. (NB: What to do after accepting Jesus)

Congratulations on heeding the salvation call! You are a born-again Christian now. Well done for sincerely accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Taking the decision to believe and become a follower of Jesus is your best decision ever; for you will never regret making such a decision. You really need to hear and refresh yourself with some welcoming assurances from Jesus Christ, your Lord and Savior, Himself. Jesus Christ says:

The thief (Satan) comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10

Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:1-3

I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this? John 11:25-26

I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. Luke 10:19

And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well. Mark 16:17-18
