But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, GuestCompanionFriend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worshiprespecthonor in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. For whosoever elevatesliftsexalteth himself shall be humbledloweredabased; and he that lowershumblethsubmits himself shall be honoredelevatedexalted. Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a banquetfeastdinner or a supper, call not thy friendscompanionsassociates, nor thy brothersbrethrenrelatives, neither thy kindredkinsmenfamily, nor thy richaffluentwealthy neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a rewardrecompencerepayment be made thee. But when thou makest a feast, call the poorneedydestitute, the injuredmaimeddisabled, the weakcrippledlame, the visionlesssightlessblind: And thou shalt be blessedhonoredrewarded; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrectionawakeningreturn of the just.
