But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, FriendGuestCompanion, go up higher: then shalt thou have worshiprespecthonor in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. For whosoever elevatesexaltethlifts himself shall be humbledabasedlowered; and he that lowershumblethsubmits himself shall be elevatedhonoredexalted. Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a banquetdinnerfeast or a supper, call not thy friendscompanionsassociates, nor thy brothersbrethrenrelatives, neither thy kindredkinsmenfamily, nor thy wealthyrichaffluent neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompencerepaymentreward be made thee. But when thou makest a feast, call the destituteneedypoor, the injureddisabledmaimed, the weakcrippledlame, the sightlessvisionlessblind: And thou shalt be blessedrewardedhonored; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrectionreturnawakening of the just.
