What does Matthew 9:32-34 mean?

32 As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil. 33 And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel. 34 But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils. (Matthew 9:32-34 KJV)

Jesus Heals a Man Unable to Speak

A demon-possessed man who was unable to speak was then brought to Jesus. His condition was severe—he was under Satan’s power, which had taken away his ability to speak; simply put, this man’s dumbness was caused by the devil’s possession. When the demon was cast out, the man immediately began to speak. Jesus’ power removes the cause of affliction, bringing true healing.

The crowds were amazed, saying, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.” Though many marveled, few truly believed. The Pharisees, refusing to acknowledge Jesus’ divine power, falsely accused him of working by the power of Satan. This was a grievous and deliberate rejection of the truth, showing their hardened hearts.
