The relationship between Jesus and John the Baptist
Jesus was the Son of God who came to die for our sins. In contrast, John the Baptist was a prophet who baptized people. John the Baptist was Jesus’ cousin because John the Baptist’s mother Elizabeth and Jesus’ mother Mary were cousins (Luke 1:36). Though, comparatively, Jesus had a big and more successful ministry than John the Baptist, John did not envy or undermine Him, unlike the Jewish religious leaders. Neither was John and Jesus in competition for followers and recognition. Rather, John valued Jesus above himself, looked to Jesus’ interest, and wished Jesus well; hence, he said, “He must become greater; I must become less (John 3:30 NIV).” Reference John 3:22-36

Was Jesus a disciple of John the Baptist?
The relationship between Jesus and John the Baptist can be easily seen in the Books of the Gospel. In the Bible, we see that John the Baptist played a significant role in Jesus’ ministry. However, Jesus was not a disciple of John the Baptist; there is no proof of it in the Bible. According to the gospels, John the Baptist baptized Jesus in the Jordan River, marking the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry. This event is often seen as a pivotal moment in their relationship. Though there are some similarities between their ministries, Jesus had his own unique mission and purpose separate from John’s.
