But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, FriendGuestCompanion, go up higher: then shalt thou have worshiprespecthonor in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. For whosoever elevatesexaltethlifts himself shall be humbledloweredabased; and he that humblethlowerssubmits himself shall be honoredexaltedelevated. Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a banquetdinnerfeast or a supper, call not thy companionsassociatesfriends, nor thy brethrenbrothersrelatives, neither thy familykinsmenkindred, nor thy wealthyrichaffluent neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a rewardrecompencerepayment be made thee. But when thou makest a feast, call the destituteneedypoor, the injureddisabledmaimed, the crippledlameweak, the visionlesssightlessblind: And thou shalt be honoredrewardedblessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the returnresurrectionawakening of the just.
