What does 1 Kings 21:25-26 mean?

25 But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up. 26 And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all things as did the Amorites, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel. (1 Kings 21:25-26 KJV)

Thomas Scott

Verses 25-26. Ahab’s crime in respect of Naboth, was not a detached part of his conduct, contrary to the general course of his life, as David’s sin in the matter of Uriah had been; but it was a specimen of his continued rebellion against God ( Note, Ro 7:15-17); and the idolatry to which Jezebel had first stirred him up, was equally abominable in the sight of God. Having sold himself to work wickedness in the sight of the Lord, as if in contempt and defiance of him, he was openly, constantly, and diligently employed in it, as a slave is in his master’s business; and it was requisite that his punishment should be as notorious as his crimes had been.
